ENTERTAINING SPACE - Nicola and Paul’s 1920s home has been extended and remodelled to create a spacious open plan layout for functional family living and entertaining

Having renovated, extended and completely remodelled their home when they bought the property thirteen years ago, Nicola and Paul have further enhanced their spacious family home with the addition of another extension, in the form of a large orangery leading from the kitchen. ‘This is what led us to wanting a new kitchen. We added the orangery two years ago, with sliding doors from the kitchen and bifolds out to the garden. We felt our last kitchen had started to date and we’d outgrown it somewhat. This time around, we wanted a more modern yet timeless design with a larger island as the focal point, as everyone gathers in our kitchen. I also wanted the island to be more functional with plenty of space for cooking and baking,’ says Nicola.

The Wrights Design House team had a great night recently at a gala dinner held by Ulster Tatler. A great night was made even better when our founder, David Wright received a lifetime recognition award.  David started the business over 50 years ago and still remains involved today, using his years of experience to assist the team when necessary.

THE LATEST FROM OUR 50TH ANNIVERSARY COLLECTION - Beautiful bespoke in-frame kitchen for renovated family home

This kitchen, from our 50th Anniversary collection has been designed for a renovated property in Ballyholme. The in-frame cabinetry and striking contrasting paint colours set the tone for this modern classic scheme. As well as the custom mantel to frame the range cooker and the large-scale island, the chef’s pantry and cocktail cabinet elevate the scheme and tick all the boxes in terms of aesthetics and functionality to ensure we created a workable and visually strong scheme. The cabinetry has been crafted with solid oak internals and dovetail drawers, ensuring the quality continues from the façade to the internal storage.

CRAFTED CONTOURS - Patrick and Ingrid have extended their family home to make way for a bright and airy handleless kitchen in an open plan layout, perfect for modern living

Specifying a modern seamless design, the couple put great importance on the overall functionality and visual look of the kitchen, so time and effort was put into shopping around for the right kitchen company to design and create their dream scheme. ‘We went to a selection of showrooms and researched magazine for ideas but once we met David Nelson at Wrights Design House, our minds were made up. David genuinely listened to what we wanted, took everything on board and then gave us suggestions and innovative ideas that really impressed us above the rest. The fact that Wrights Design House manufactures their own kitchens was a huge draw for us, as we valued having a truly bespoke design, designed and made to perfectly suit the space.’

We continue to reinforce our position as kitchen leaders in Ireland and the UK by winning Best Kitchen Retailer in Ireland at the IKTG Awards. These awards are open to every kitchen company so it really is an outstanding achievement for Glen Wright and his team. The gala awards ceremony held at Titanic Belfast, was a fantastic night, attended many of Ireland's leading kitchen companies. The winning of this award, against such stiff competition is amazing accolade for the company, and a great way to end 2018!

ENDURING APPEAL - The owners of this Georgian-style new build have created an inviting open plan layout to accommodate everyday living, with a fabulous bespoke kitchen designed around a classic aesthetic

With a fairly clear idea of what they wanted to achieve in terms of design and style for their new kitchen, the couple were also delighted to take Glen’s expert advice. ‘We took on board every piece of advice Glen gave! He has great experience in kitchen design; we were particularly happy with how well he utilized space both in the kitchen and the utility room and the design features he included, such as the rounded island detail.’ Central to the design is the substantial island, perfectly proportioned to suit the scale of the room. ‘I wanted a large island but I didn’t want the seating to be in a straight line, so Glen came up with a curved design that brings a more sociable aspect to the layout. A wine fridge was also incorporated into the island, so it’s a great area for entertaining.’
